– Projects Reflect Government’s Commitment to Modern Infrastructure — Commissioner Ingawa
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has commissioned the reconstructed and dualized 3.9km Funtua–Katsina Road and the upgraded 1.2km Tsohuwar Kasuwa Road, describing them as key milestones under his administration’s Urban Renewal Programme.

Speaking at the commissioning in Katsina on Tuesday, Governor Radda said the projects demonstrate his administration’s commitment to delivering durable infrastructure that stimulates economic growth, improves transportation, enhances road safety, and supports sustainable development.
“Today, we are commissioning the reconstructed and dualized Funtua–Katsina Road, a strategic 3.9-kilometre corridor completed at a cost of ₦5.8 billion, and the rehabilitation and upgrading of the 1.2-kilometre Tsohuwar Kasuwa Road, executed at a cost of ₦637 million,” the Governor stated.
He added that both projects have been fitted with modern solar-powered street lighting to improve security, enhance public safety, and beautify the urban environment.
The Governor said the projects were executed by Mothercat Limited under the supervision of the Katsina State Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport as part of the Urban Renewal Programme being implemented across the Katsina, Daura, and Funtua Senatorial Zones.
“The successful completion of these projects shows our commitment to providing quality infrastructure that will stimulate economic activities, improve mobility, reduce travel time, and enhance road safety,” Governor Radda said.
He commended the Ministry of Works for its professionalism and applauded Mothercat Limited for delivering the projects according to specification. He also appreciated residents for their patience during construction.
Governor Radda assured the people that his administration would continue to expand and modernize infrastructure through strategic investments that improve livelihoods and create economic opportunities.
“Our administration will continue to invest in infrastructure that improves the lives of our people and strengthens the economic future of Katsina State. Every completed project brings us closer to the modern and prosperous state we desire,” he affirmed.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Engr. Sani Magaji Ingawa, described the event as another milestone in the Governor’s Urban Renewal Programme.
He explained that the Funtua–Katsina Road stretches 3.9km from the Central Mosque Roundabout to Dutsen Rimi Roundabout, while the Tsohuwar Kasuwa Road spans 1.2km from the Central Mosque Roundabout to the Zaria–Gusau Bypass. Both roads were constructed with asphalt concrete pavement and solar-powered street lights.
Engr. Ingawa noted that the projects were executed in line with the highest engineering standards and the quality assurance policy of the state government.
He recalled that Governor Radda flagged off three major urban renewal road projects in Funtua last year and added that work on the Sokoto Road Project is progressing and will be completed and commissioned before the end of 2026.
“These projects are clear evidence of the administration’s commitment to providing durable infrastructure that improves transportation, supports economic growth, and enhances the quality of life of our people,” he said.
The event was graced by District Head of Funtua and Sarkin Maskan Katsina,Alhaji Sambo idris,Sambo, Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura; Chief of Staff, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; Principal Private Secretary, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; members of the National and State Assemblies, traditional rulers, religious leaders,and other government officials.
