The Niger State Ministry of Lands and Survey says it has generated about N5 billion naira in revenue in the last eight months.

A statement signed by Bologi Ibrahim, Chief press secretary to the Governor, said the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Barr Bello Ahmad Agwara, revealed this during the quarterly media briefing organized by the Ministry of Information and Orientation in Minna.

He said since he assumed office in November 2025, he has been able to reposition the ministry through policies geared towards improving revenue generation to meet the 2026 target of N8 billion.

Barr. Bello Agwara disclosed that about 17 lands have so far been revoked by the state government due to the inability to put the lands to the purpose for which they were acquired.

He said out of the 17 revoked lands, 10 were from the Suleja, Gurara, and Tafa axis, while the remaining seven were from the Zone C axis.

The commissioner said the land revocation was done in accordance with the provisions of the Land Use Act.

He explained that the law empowers the governor to revoke or acquire land for projects that will serve public interest, maintaining that the acquisition of land in Dikko to build a solar power plant was within the ambit of the law.

Barr. Bello said the state government has made the process of obtaining a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) easy and seamless through technological innovation, encouraging the people to take advantage of it and apply online.

He also noted that proactive measures introduced by the ministry have reduced land disputes across the state.

The commissioner further explained that the state government has no plans to build a government house in Suleja but a government lodge for easy administration.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Suleiman Umar, said the Niger State government is collaborating with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to supply power to six boarding secondary schools and 17 primary facilities in the state.

The commissioner, represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Dr Mohamed Gana, further revealed that a partnership is ongoing with the State Electricity Regulatory Commission to strengthen investments in power supply in the state.

He said the people of Ibeto who have suffered lack of electricity for about 12 years will soon breathe a sigh of relief as the electrification project is almost completed.

The commissioner assured that the present administration will continue to provide renewable energy to promote a safer environment and stable power supply to boost socioeconomic activities.
