The Commander Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Brigadier General Edet Effiong, has intensified efforts to strengthen interagency security cooperation and operational coordination in Yobe State through a strategic familiarization tour of key security institutions in Damaturu.
As part of his first official engagements, the Commander paid courtesy visits to the Commissioner of Police, Yobe State Command, CP Usman Jibrin and the State Director, Department of State Services (DSS), Mr Nasir Safiyanu.
A statement signed by Lieutenant Absolom Kandala, acting assistant director army public relations,headquarters sector 2 joint task force operations Hadin Kai Damaturu Yobe state,said the high-level engagements focused on enhancing intelligence-driven operations, reinforcing unified security architecture and consolidating collaborative mechanisms aimed at sustaining counterinsurgency gains across the North East theatre.
During the engagements, Brigadier General Effiong highlighted the critical importance of jointness, intelligence fusion, and unity of effort among security and intelligence agencies in addressing evolving security threats within the Joint Operations Area. He emphasized that the prevailing operational successes recorded under Operation HADIN KAI are products of sustained interagency collaboration, coordinated operational planning and shared commitment to national security objectives.
In their separate remarks, the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force and DSS reaffirmed their readiness to sustain robust cooperation with Sector 2, particularly in the areas of intelligence sharing, coordinated patrols, strategic engagements and community-based security initiatives aimed at denying criminal and terrorist elements freedom of action.
In a related development, the Commander Sector 2, commissioned a new school within the Military Cantonment and Area of Responsibility (AOR). The project was executed by the Commanding Officer of 233 Tank Battalion Damaturu, Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Yakubu under the guidance of the Commander Sector 2. The commissioning ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Yobe State Government and representatives of sister security agencies. This initiative underscores the military’s commitment not only to security operations but also to promoting education and community development in its host environment.
The educational intervention reflects the commitment of Operation HADIN KAI towards promoting human security, strengthening civil-military cooperation and supporting socio-economic development as complementary lines of operation in the ongoing stabilization efforts across the North East.
